Reader’s Question:
Has anyone ever tried using the websites that offer instant auto insurance quotes? I’ve seen them browsing through other websites. Is it easy to buy auto insurance, and is it safe?

Hi, Tara. I’m glad to share that I did purchase my current auto insurance online. Like you, I saw an ad for a website that offers instant auto insurance quotes and decided to try it more out of boredom than anything else. I was pleasantly surprised when they offered me a cheaper auto insurance rate than my current provider. So when renewal time came along, naturally I did more research on the net and eventually landed a great deal through an instant auto insurance quote I got. It really saved me a lot of money and not to mention my time doing the purchase online.
While there have been news of some insurance fraud happening, this shouldn’t put you off altogether. I suggest you browse through several websites before making a purchase. If you are not comfortable purchasing through broker sites, try going to the auto insurance company sites. You should also look for the signs that the websites you go to are secure such as the verisign seal or other seals that signify that the website is safe from hacks or other malware. Try it out first with a company you feel has a strong web presence. I’m betting that once you see how competitive the instant auto insurance they offer are, you’ll be swayed into your first online auto insurance purchase.
